The Dagashi Kashi anime loosely follows the plot of the manga, where in any order tells the life of Kokonotsu Shikada living in the countryside. It all started from an argument between his father, Yō Shikada who wanted him to become the successor of the family business about candy.

Until Hotaru Shidare walks in, she keeps persuading Kokonotsu to take over. As the series unfolds, Kokonotsu meets Saya Endō and Tō Endō talking about life in the countryside where candy is occasionally involved. Most of the series discusses about candies and snacks with its origins and it is adapted into twelve episodes.

Reception

When the final episode aired, Nick Creamer of AnimeNewsNetwork gave an overall grade of B and said that, "In the end, Dagashi Kashi remained what it's always been: a light show that's never likely to truly impress or disappoint, but is perfectly content to simply be its warm and endearing self."[3] G.B. Smith of The Fandom Post thought that the show's a worth a watch, although he is not sure about its future rewatch value. He also gave the final episode and the first season a B+. [4]
